Google and Yahoo last week improved their own online photo services, Picasa Web Albums and Flickr. Google quite factually has put Picasa Web Albums on the map. Picasa users now have the alternative to place images in their Picasa Web Albums on an online map. Friends and family with whom those photos have been shared could then see where the images were captured using also Google Maps or Google Earth.
Yahoo, in the meantime, stated that it has included Flickr images into Yahoo Image Search. "We had a couple of aims for this integration," explained Ujwal Tickoo, senior product manager for Yahoo Search, in a blog post. "First, we required to make sure that we respected the contributions from the Flickr society and give credit where credit is due."
